Plant Prefab Driveway & Pavers: The Austin Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Plant Prefab-compatible driveway pavers throughout Austin, with typical replacement runs from $7,000 to $18,000 for a full paver driveway and $3,500 to $11,000 for a paver patio or walkway section. Most repairs, like resetting settled pavers or replacing a cracked section, come in well under that, often between $800 and $3,000 depending on how much base material needs rebuilding. The usual way owners find us is after a storm: they notice a low spot holding water, a paver that’s cracked and rocking underfoot, or joints washing out and leaving gaps where weeds have already moved in. We’re not affiliated with Plant Prefab, but we’ve worked on their panel-and-module homes around South Congress and across Travis County long enough to know how their site work gets tied into the home’s drainage and grade.

Which Plant Prefab Models This Applies To
Plant Prefab homes ship on steel or concrete foundation systems, which means your driveway and paver surfaces sit on engineered pads with specific slope and drainage requirements baked into the home’s site plan. The pavers themselves aren’t Plant Prefab parts, they’re site work. What matters for compatibility is how the finished surface meets the home’s exterior: the paver edge has to clear the home’s exterior panel seams by at least 2 inches so water doesn’t wick up into the wall assembly, and the surface has to fall away from the structure at no less than a quarter inch per foot for the first 6 feet. On Plant Prefab’s larger models, especially the LivingHome series, we also look at the transition plates where exterior decks or entry landings bolt to the module. The paver work has to accommodate those bolts and leave access for future panel service. If you’re unsure which edge detail applies to your model, a photo of the paver line where it meets your home’s exterior panels tells us most of what we need in about thirty seconds.

Signs Your Plant Prefab Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Standing water after a light rain. Austin’s clay-heavy soil expands and contracts through our wet-dry cycles. When the paver base was never compacted deeply enough, the surface settles unevenly and water pools instead of running toward the street or your drainage inlet.
- Pavers rocking underfoot. This almost always means the sand bedding layer has washed out or the edge restraint has failed. The problem spreads; one loose paver lets water in, which loosens the next one.
- Weeds pushing through joints. Joint sand compacts and erodes over time, leaving gaps. Weeds are the symptom; the real issue is a failed joint system that’s letting water into the base.
- Cracked or spalled paver faces. In a Texas summer, cheap pavers with a thin color face will delaminate, and pavers installed too tight with no expansion room will spall at the edges. We see this most often on driveways poured on slabs that heat up to 140 degrees in August.
- Sinking near the home’s perimeter. If the area right where your pavers meet a Plant Prefab exterior panel is sinking, the original installer likely didn’t tie the paver base into the home’s foundation drainage. Water is pooling there, and over a few seasons, the base is losing material.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Austin, a full paver driveway for a typical Plant Prefab lot runs $7,000 to $18,000, and a paver patio or walkway section runs $3,500 to $11,000. Where you land depends on paver material (concrete pavers from Belgard or Unilock run less than natural stone), the depth of the existing base we’re removing or rebuilding, and whether your drainage needs a new channel drain or a regrade. A partial repair, where we’re pulling up a settled section, recompacting the base, and resetting the same pavers, typically lands between $800 and $3,000. Every quote is a written number before any work starts, parts and labor separated so you can see exactly what you’re paying for. If we set a price for the repair and the job goes sideways because of something we didn’t see, that’s on us, not on your invoice. The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if a paver settles again inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can absolutely check a few things yourself: look for a visible low spot where water sits, confirm the pavers at the edge of the run are still supported and not cantilevered over open soil, and check that your downspouts aren’t dumping straight onto the paver surface. What you shouldn’t do is try to lift and reset a large section of pavers yourself. The dangerous part isn’t the paver; it’s the base. A failed Austin paver base is usually clay that’s turned to soup under the surface, and if you’re not compacting in lifts with the right material, you’ll have the same failure again by next spring. If the edge of your run is meeting a Plant Prefab module, you’re now working with the home’s drainage, and it’s easy to make a water problem worse. Call us at (325) 225-5429, and we’ll come look at it and give you a written price. That’s the whole deal.
FAQs

Concrete pavers installed on a properly compacted base in Austin will last 25 to 40 years. The pavers themselves hold up fine in our climate; what shortens the lifespan is the base, and Austin’s clay means the base needs to be dug deeper and compacted more than what passes for standard on cheap installs. If the base isn’t right, the surface will show it within five to seven years, sometimes two. Call (325) 225-5429 if you want us to look at your base before you pay for a new surface.
Yes, if the failure is localized, meaning one settled section, a failed edge, or a drain that’s not moving water. We pull the affected pavers, rebuild the base under that section, reset the pavers, and re-sand the joints, usually in a day or two. If the entire driveway has multiple settled areas or the original base was never compacted, you’ll spend more patching it over several years than you would replacing it once. We’ll tell you which one you’re looking at and give you a written price for each option.
A partial repair like a settled section or a failed edge typically takes one to two days on site. A full driveway replacement, including removing the old surface, excavating and rebuilding the base, and laying new pavers, takes three to five working days depending on the size and the Austin weather, since we can’t compact wet clay. We give you a defined arrival window before we start and a clean jobsite at the end of every day.
We stock the most common Belgard and Unilock concrete pavers in Austin’s standard color families: grays, tans, and the warmer browns that dominate Central Texas landscaping. If your existing pavers are a discontinued color or a natural stone, we can match the profile and get close on color, or we can work with you on replacing the section with a complementary border that looks intentional rather than patched. Call (325) 225-5429 and we’ll identify the paver and tell you what we can match before we sell you anything.
Tell me what you need, I’ll tell you what it costs, and we’ll go from there. Call (325) 225-5429 for a free estimate on your Plant Prefab driveway or paver repair in Austin. We’ll show up, look at the site, and hand you a written number with a written guarantee behind it. Simple as that.
