Cambridge Pavers Windows & Doors: The Austin Owner’s Guide
We install and service Cambridge Pavers-compatible windows and doors throughout Austin, and most replacement jobs run between $4,500 and $25,000 depending on the window line, door configuration, and what’s behind the existing frame. If you’ve got a Cambridge Pavers window that’s fogged, a door that drags, or hardware that won’t latch, we can usually source the part and get it installed within a week. Most owners discover the problem the same way: a window that won’t stay open, a door that suddenly needs a shoulder to close, or a utility bill that creeps up because the seal has quietly given out. You call us when it’s no longer something you can ignore.

A quick note up front: Penhallow Remodeling Austin is an independent contractor. We’re not affiliated with Cambridge Pavers, but we work with their products regularly, and we know the quirks of their window and door hardware well enough to match parts correctly the first time.
Which Cambridge Pavers Models This Applies To

Cambridge Pavers is primarily known for their paver and hardscape lines, but their windows and doors division has produced a range of residential units over the years, most commonly vinyl and aluminum-clad windows paired with steel or fiberglass entry doors. The compatibility gotcha we see most often in Austin homes is this: Cambridge Pavers windows from different production years do not always share the same balance or hinge hardware, even when the exterior dimensions match. A sash from a 2012 unit will not necessarily drop into a 2019 frame without a new balance system. That’s why we always pull the manufacturer’s label from the top or side of the sash before ordering anything.
If you can’t find the label, we measure the glass thickness, the frame depth, and the balance type, and we match from there. Cambridge Pavers sold three main window series over the years, roughly equivalent to a builder-grade vinyl, a mid-grade aluminum-clad, and a higher-end thermally broken line. The builder-grade units are the ones we see failing first in Texas, and OEM parts for those are getting harder to source. In many cases, a quality aftermarket balance, cam, or weatherstripping kit fits and performs as well as the original. We’ll tell you when aftermarket makes sense and when it doesn’t, and we won’t make you guess.

Signs Your Cambridge Pavers Windows & Doors Is Failing
- Fogged or milky glass between the panes. The inert gas between your double-pane glass has escaped through a failed seal. Once moisture gets in, that window is done insulating. It still keeps wind out, but it’s costing you money every month on climate control.
- A sash that slowly slides shut or won’t stay up. The spring balance or block-and-tackle system is worn out. On Cambridge Pavers builder-grade windows, this is the single most common failure we see after six or seven Austin summers, because the heat breaks down the internal components faster than the glass ever will.
- You have to lift or yank the door to get it latched. The door has sagged, usually because the hinges are worn or the frame has settled. On steel and fiberglass doors, this is fixable, but only if you catch it before the lock hardware gets chewed up.
- Daylight or a draft at the corners of the door. The weatherstripping is compressed, torn, or just gone. In an Austin August, that gap is the difference between your AC running and your AC running constantly.
- The lock cylinder turns but won’t retract the bolt cleanly. The internal tailpiece is worn or broken. You’ll feel it – the key turns a little too far or the bolt hangs halfway. That’s a wear part, and it won’t fix itself.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Window replacement in Austin typically runs $4,500 to $15,000 for a full-home swap on a standard three-bedroom house, depending on window count, frame material, and whether we’re also replacing interior trim. Impact-rated window installations run $8,000 to $25,000 because the glass package is heavier, the frames are reinforced, and the installation has to meet stricter code. A single entry door replacement usually lands between $1,800 and $6,000 installed, with fiberglass and steel at different price points, and full-glass or sidelight configurations pushing toward the top of that range.
What drives the number up or down is pretty straightforward: the number of windows or doors, the material you’re choosing, whether the rough opening is square and intact, and whether we’re pulling permits. In Austin, most window and door replacements do not require a permit if we’re not changing the opening size, but as soon as we’re cutting into structure, we’re pulling a permit and getting it inspected. Every estimate we give is a written number before we start. Not a range, not a ballpark. The number on day one is the number on the invoice. And every part and every labor hour is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the work fails inside the guarantee period, we come back and fix it at no charge.

There are a few things you can safely check before you spend a dime. Look for the manufacturer’s label on the sash or door edge. Wiggle the handle and the sash to see exactly what’s loose. Spray a little silicone lubricant on the balance tracks and see if that changes anything. Those checks are free and they help us diagnose faster when you call.
What we don’t recommend is pulling a Cambridge Pavers sash out of the frame yourself, or attempting to swap a door without another set of hands and a good level. A vinyl window sash with a broken balance is under tension, and when that tension lets go suddenly, it takes a chunk of frame or finger with it. The same goes for a sagging door: shimming a frame so the latch lands cleanly is a two-person job, and if you get it wrong, you’ll be back to yanking the handle within a month. FAQs

In our experience, builder-grade Cambridge Pavers vinyl windows last 10 to 15 years before the balances, weatherstripping, or seals start to go. The Austin heat ages the internal components faster than the glass, so you’ll usually see mechanical wear long before the frame fails. Higher-end thermally broken models can stretch to 20 years or more with regular cleaning and maintenance. If yours are closer to the 15-year mark and you’ve got fogged glass or failing balances, replacement is usually the better money than chasing one repair after another. Call us at (325) 225-5429 and we’ll give you an honest read.
Yes, in a lot of cases. A worn balance, a broken cam, or a failing weatherstripping kit can be replaced without pulling the whole window. A door that’s sagging can often be re-shimmed and re-set. What usually can’t be repaired is a failed glass seal: once moisture gets between the panes, the glass unit needs to be replaced. We’ll always tell you when repair is the right call and when you’re better off putting that money toward a new unit. Call (325) 225-5429 and we’ll walk you through it.
A typical single window swap takes one to two hours, and a standard door replacement runs half a day. A full-home window replacement is usually a two-to-three-day job for our crew, and we schedule a defined arrival window so you’re not waiting around all day. We leave the job site cleaner than we found it, every time. That’s part of how we’ve always operated.
We stock the most common replacement parts on our trucks: balances, cams, pivot shoes, weatherstripping in common profiles, and standard door hardware. If you have a less common Cambridge Pavers series, we source the specific part and typically have it in hand within three to five business days. Either way, you’ll get a written price before we order anything. We also stock parts for KraftMaid cabinets, Cambria countertops, and Silestone surfaces, since those brands show up in a lot of the same Austin homes. Call (325) 225-5429 for a free estimate and we’ll tell you exactly what’s involved.
