Cambria Fence Installation: The Austin Owner’s Guide

Cambria fence installation typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 in Austin, depending on footage, post settings, and whether we’re pulling a failed section or starting fresh. We stock Cambria-compatible fencing materials on the truck and can usually have a crew out within a few days for a replacement or full run. Most Austin homeowners discover the problem the hard way: a post leans after a spring storm, a gate sags until it scrapes, or the bottom rail rots out where sprinkler overspray keeps it damp.

Which Cambria Models This Applies To

Cambria’s fencing line covers both privacy and semi-privacy panel styles, and the compatibility question usually comes down to two things: post dimensions and rail slot spacing. Cambria uses a 5×5 post profile with routed channels that accept ¾-inch-thick infill boards, and the panel width is standardized at 72 inches on center. Older Cambria runs from the mid-2000s used a shallower channel, so if your fence predates that shift, replacement boards will need to be planed down slightly or we’ll adapt the post caps. The practical way to confirm what you have is to measure the channel depth with a tape measure; anything under ½ inch is the older profile. We always recommend OEM Cambria components where the warranty still applies, but for out-of-warranty repairs, a quality aftermarket ¾-inch cedar or composite board fits the same channel and will hold up better in Austin’s wet-dry cycles than the original softwood.

Signs Your Cambria Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Posts leaning at the base: In Austin’s clay-heavy soil, especially east of I-35, posts set without concrete collars heave and tilt within three to five years. The post itself is usually fine; the footing has failed.
  • Boards pulling free of the channel: The routed slot on Cambria posts holds boards by friction and a single bead of adhesive. Once summer heat cycles dry the wood, that bead lets go and boards rattle loose.
  • Gate dragging or won’t latch: This usually means the hinge-side post has tilted just enough to throw the gate out of square, or the gate frame itself has absorbed enough moisture to swell past its original clearance.
  • Bottom rail rot along the drip line: Austin sprinkler systems are the culprit here more often than rain. Water hits the bottom rail at the same spot every cycle, and that constant moisture finds its way in.
  • Black staining at post bases or board ends: That’s mold from trapped moisture, and it tells us the end grain was never sealed. Cambria’s factory treatment is decent, but cut ends left unsealed will wick water and discolor within two seasons.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Austin, the installed range is $3,500 – $9,000. A partial repair, like pulling a single failed post or replacing a run of rotted infill boards, lands near the bottom of that range. A full straight-line run with new posts, concrete collars, composite boards, and hardware on an average Austin lot runs $6,000 – $8,000. The range shifts based on linear footage, post quantity, whether we’re removing old concrete footings, and board material. Every quote includes the tear-out, disposal, new materials, labor, and the written Kingswell guarantee. You’ll get a written price before any work starts, so the number doesn’t move once we break ground. The work itself is covered for 365 days. If something fails in that window, we come back and make it right at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

Fencing is not high-tension work, but it is deeply annoying work when it goes wrong. A homeowner can safely inspect post lean with a level, check channel depth with a tape measure, and look for sprinkler overspray hitting the bottom rail. Where DIY goes sideways is the post pull. A rotted post buried in clay with an old concrete collar is a two-person, come-along-and-dig-bar job, and setting the new post wrong puts you right back where you started in three years. If the posts are solid and you’re just replacing a few boards, it’s manageable. If the posts have moved at all, call (325) 225-5429. We’ll come out, tell you what’s actually wrong, and give you a written number before anything gets scheduled. Tell me what you need, I’ll tell you what it costs, and we’ll go from there.
