Caesarstone Home Additions & ADU: The Austin Owner’s Guide

If you’re planning a home addition or ADU in Austin and want Caesarstone countertops as part of the build, the full project typically runs $45,000–$130,000 for the addition, with countertop installation itself landing between $2,000 and $6,500 depending on slab size, edge profile, and how many seams your layout requires. We install Caesarstone quartz on kitchen counters, island tops, bathroom vanities, and wet bars inside new square footage across Austin, and we can usually start measurements within a week of your walls being framed and cabinets set. Most Austin homeowners reach out right after a failed attempt with another contractor: the addition got roughed in, the countertop order was wrong or arrived damaged, and now someone has to fix it before the project can close out.

Which Caesarstone Models This Applies To

Caesarstone runs two main product families that matter for additions and ADUs: the Classic and Supernatural series, plus the newer porcelain-surfaced lines. The Classic and Supernatural quartz slabs come in 56½” x 120” jumbo format and 2cm or 3cm thickness. For a kitchen island in a new addition, you want 3cm stock so you can run a finished edge without laminating a second layer, which adds cost and a visible glue line. The porcelain line is thinner and lighter, usually 12mm, and shifts the build math for cabinet support and overhang limits.

One compatibility gotcha we see often in Austin: Caesarstone color lots shift between production runs. If your addition needs a second slab to match existing Caesarstone counters in the original part of the house, order both slabs from the same lot number or accept a visible difference at the seam. We read the lot code printed on the slab back before templating, and we tell you plainly if a match is realistic or if you should run a complementary color at a threshold instead.

Penhallow Remodeling Austin is an independent service provider and not affiliated with Caesarstone. The OEM versus aftermarket conversation doesn’t apply to slab material the way it does to hardware parts—you’re always buying genuine Caesarstone from an authorized distributor—but it does apply to the undermount sink clips, seam adhesive, and support brackets. We use stainless clips and color-matched polyester adhesive rated for quartz’s thermal expansion, not the cheap stuff that fails under a Texas summer heat cycle.

Signs Your Caesarstone Home Additions & ADU Is Failing

  • Seam separation at the island. If the two halves of your Caesarstone island top show a darkening ridge or a hairline gap, the substrate below is moving—usually cabinet settling on a slab foundation that shifts with Austin’s expansive clay soil. The stone isn’t failing; the structure under it is.
  • Chipping at the overhang edge. Caesarstone is hard, but a 12” unsupported overhang with no steel corbel will flex under a teenager leaning on it. We see this in ADU kitchens where the owner skipped the support bracket line item to save $300.
  • Dulling or etching around the cooktop. Quartz resists stains but not heat. Setting a hot pan directly on Caesarstone, especially near the induction cutout, will leave a white haze or a spider crack radiating from the corner of the cutout.
  • A hollow sound under the slab. Tap the countertop near the sink. If it sounds hollow in patches, the adhesive bed under the stone has let go in spots, which means water can pool in those voids and slowly delaminate the whole top.
  • Wobble at the bar seating overhang. If a full-height stone waterfall panel or a 14” bar overhang rocks when you press it, the support framing was undersized. This is a common DIY-addition mistake, and it’s fixable, but the slab usually has to come off to do it right.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A walk-in pantry with wood shelving

For a Caesarstone countertop swap inside a new or existing addition in Austin, installed pricing runs $2,000–$6,500. The range moves on three things: slab square footage (a 10-foot run with a farmhouse sink cutout costs more than a 6-foot vanity top), edge profile (eased edges are standard; mitered waterfall edges add fabrication hours), and whether the old top needs removal and disposal. If the project is a full home addition where Caesarstone is one line item inside a $45,000–$130,000 build, the countertop portion still falls inside that $2,000–$6,500 window unless you’re doing multiple bathrooms plus a kitchen.

Every quote we write includes the material, fabrication, templating, delivery, installation, seam work, sink mounting, and haul-away of the old top. The price on day one is the price on the invoice. If the seam fails or the top cracks at a support point within 365 days, we come back and fix it at no charge under our written guarantee.

DIY or Call Us?

You can inspect your existing Caesarstone without any risk: check seams for widening, look for hairline cracks at inside corners, and push gently on any overhang to feel for movement. Write down what you see and call us with that list. What you shouldn’t do is pull a Caesarstone top yourself. A 3cm slab weighs roughly 18 pounds per square foot—a 10-foot kitchen run is well over 400 pounds—and once it’s off the cabinets, the edges become brittle and can snap clean through if it torques wrong. Improper lifting also voids Caesarstone’s material warranty. This is one of those places where the DIY attempt creates a $2,000 problem where a $400 professional removal existed before. Call us at (325) 225-5429 and we’ll walk the job with you first.
