Boral Fence Installation: The Austin Owner’s Guide
We install Boral fence panels and full Boral fencing systems throughout Austin, typically at $3,500 – $9,000 depending on the length of the run, the panel profile, and what’s going on underground. Most jobs wrap in two to four working days once we’re on the calendar, but the first visit always starts the same way: a written price before any work begins, so you know the exact number before we touch a post hole. If you’ve found us because a Boral panel cracked at a weak point, warped in a Texas summer, or the post footings shifted after a hard rain, you’re in the right place.

Which Boral Models This Applies To

Boral makes three main fence panel lines that show up on Austin properties: the Classic series, the Contour series, and the Craftsman series. They share the same benefit (a thicker, denser panel that resists warping better than plain pine), but the install details differ enough that we always need the panel label or a good photo before we quote. The Classic has a flat face with a straight tongue-and-groove seam. The Contour has a subtle bevel on each board. The Craftsman sits heavier, with a thicker bottom rail and a wider post sleeve.
One compatibility gotcha we see a lot: Boral panels do not play nicely with just any post. The post system is engineered to match the panel weight, and if someone previously hung Boral panels on standard dimensional lumber posts, the post usually bows or splits within a few years. We install Boral panels on the post-and-sleeve system they were designed for. For aftermarket components, we’re comfortable using steel-reinforced post inserts and stainless hardware where the original Boral hardware has corroded, but we never mix the panel and post lines. If a Boral fence was previously installed by someone else, we’ll check the post setup before we agree to hang new panels on it.

Signs Your Boral Fence Installation Is Failing
- Panels pulling away from the post at the rail. This usually means the original installer used standard wood screws instead of the coated structural screws Boral specifies. Austin’s heat-dry-wet cycle works those screws loose within a couple of years.
- Warp or bow along the top third of the panel. Boral panels resist moisture better than pine, but direct sun on the South Congress side of a fence line for ten summers will still move a panel if it was installed without an expansion gap.
- Bottom rail rot or softening. If the panel sits directly on grade or the post footing doesn’t shed water, the bottom rail absorbs splashback and eventually breaks down. We set panels with a visible gap and gravel at the base for exactly this reason.
- Leaning posts after a rain event. Most Austin fence posts are set 24 to 30 inches deep, but Boral panels weigh more than wood, so anything shallower than 30 inches will eventually lean in clay-heavy soil.
- Loose panels that rattle in the wind. Wind load on a solid panel face is no joke. We use through-bolted brackets at every rail-to-post connection, not toe screws, to stop that movement permanently.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Full Boral fence installation in Austin runs $3,500 – $9,000. That includes removing and hauling the old fence, setting new posts to 30+ inches with concrete, hanging the Boral panels on the correct post system, and clean-up. If it’s a short run (40 to 60 feet), a simple replacement with no fence removal, and we’re reusing existing posts that are still sound, you’ll sit near the lower end. A full property wrap with multiple gates, sitting on hard limestone that slows the post digging, lands at the higher end.
Every quote is written, and once we give it to you, that’s the number. If we find limestone while setting posts, we tell you what the upcharge is before we proceed, not after. Our labor carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s in writing, on every Boral job.
DIY or Call Us?
If you have a single loose picket or a latch that needs adjusting, go ahead and tighten a couple of screws. That’s homeowner territory. The moment you’re dealing with a leaning post, a sagging section, or setting new post footings in Austin soil, call us. Digging and resetting posts properly is hard, dangerous work in our clay-heavy yards, and a fence panel that weighs twice what pine weighs can hurt someone if it comes down at the wrong time.
What you shouldn’t do is try to shim or prop up a failing post and call it fixed. That gets you another six months, then the panel cracks. Tell me what you need, I’ll tell you what it costs, and we’ll go from there. Call (325) 225-5429 for a free estimate.
FAQs

A properly installed Boral fence in Austin lasts 20 to 30 years, which is roughly double what a standard pine fence gets in our heat-and-moisture cycle. The panel itself carries a transferable warranty from Boral, but the lifespan depends heavily on how the posts were set and whether the bottom rail stays clear of standing water. Call (325) 225-5429 if you want us to check an existing Boral install and tell you honestly what’s left in it.
Often yes. If the damage is localized (one cracked board, one rail), we can cut out and replace just that section without touching the rest of the fence. If three or more posts have shifted, or the bottom rails are failing across multiple sections, a partial repair becomes false economy. We’ll walk it with you and tell you which side of that line your fence sits on. Call (325) 225-5429 and we’ll put eyes on it.
For a standard residential run in Austin, most Boral fence installations take two to four working days. The wild card is always post digging; if we hit limestone ledges (common near the west side), it adds time. We’ll give you a defined arrival window before we start, and the crew leaves the site clean at the end of each day.
We source Boral panels and the matching post system directly through our suppliers, same as we source KraftMaid and Wellborn cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone countertops for our remodeling work. You won’t need to order anything. That keeps the warranty path clean and means we’re never telling you to call the manufacturer yourself. Call (325) 225-5429 and we’ll handle the parts and the install together.
We’re an independent Austin installer, not affiliated with Boral. We’ve worked with their fence products for years because they hold up better in Central Texas than anything else we’ve seen, and we stand behind our installation separately with the 365-Day Done Right Promise.
