Dvele Driveway & Pavers: The Austin Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Dvele-compatible driveway and paver components across Austin, with most paver driveway installations running $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, base condition, and paver line. Most owners discover a problem the same way: a paver sinks after a hard rain, a section of the driveway shifts out of alignment, or water pools where it never pooled before. Trevor Nash and our Penhallow Remodeling Austin crew have been fixing these exact failures across Austin neighborhoods from Mueller to Circle C for well over a decade, and we’ll give you a written price before any work starts.

Which Dvele Models This Applies To

A finished backyard cottage with a small covered porch

Dvele homes in Austin typically ship with one of two driveway systems: a standard concrete pour with paver accents, or a full permeable paver driveway designed to handle the city’s drainage requirements. The paver component is the part owners call us about most, and the first thing we do is identify the paver manufacturer and series. If you have the original Dvele spec sheet from your build, the paver details are usually listed under “Exterior Hardscape” or “Site Improvements.” No paperwork? We measure the paver itself. Most Dvele Austin builds use a 60mm or 80mm paver, and the metric thickness matters more than the brand name. A 60mm paver swapped into a driveway that needs 80mm will crack under vehicle weight within a season.

On the OEM versus aftermarket question: Dvele doesn’t manufacture pavers. They source from the same regional suppliers we do, which means the “OEM” paver is usually a Belgard or Unilock product available locally. That’s good news for pricing. We stock Belgard and Unilock lines on our truck, and we also carry matching edge restraints, bedding sand, and jointing compound specific to permeable systems. If your driveway uses a specialty paver no longer in production, we’ll match color and texture with a current equivalent and flag any slight variation before we order it. You’ll know exactly what you’re getting before we start.

Signs Your Dvele Driveway & Pavers Are Failing

  • Sinking or depressed pavers in wheel tracks. This almost always points to a base failure underneath, not a bad paver. Water got into the aggregate base, washed out fines, and now the pavers have nothing solid to sit on. Patching the paver without fixing the base means the same paver sinks again after the next storm.
  • Wide gaps opening between pavers. Sand joint loss is the early warning. Austin’s heat bakes the jointing sand until it breaks down, and once it’s gone, pavers shift under load. You’ll see this first on the driveway edges and turns.
  • Water pooling after regular rain. Permeable Dvele driveways are designed to drain through, not around. If water sits on top, the paver joints are clogged with silt or the base has compacted beyond recovery. Left alone, pooling water accelerates freeze-thaw damage in rare Austin freezes and erodes the base faster.
  • Cracked or chipped paver edges near the garage apron. The transition zone between the concrete apron and the paver field takes the most stress. If the edge restraint failed, pavers start walking outward, and chipping is the first visible symptom.
  • Efflorescence or white crust on pavers. That white deposit is moisture pulling minerals through the paver, a sign of trapped water below. In newer Dvele builds, it can be cosmetic. In older driveways, it usually means drainage is no longer doing its job.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A single-story rear room addition with tall windows and a new patio

A full paver driveway replacement in Austin runs $7,000 – $18,000. A localized repair, like re-setting a sunken section or replacing a failed edge restraint, typically lands between $800 and $2,500 depending on how much base work is required. What drives the number up: total square footage, how much of the existing base can be salvaged, access for equipment, and whether you have a permeable system that needs specialized jointing material. What drives it down: simple color-match replacements on a stable base with no grading issues.

Every quote from Penhallow Remodeling Austin includes the parts and labor broken out separately, so you see exactly what the pavers cost and exactly what the crew time costs. We pull the old pavers, repair or rebuild the base, re-set the pavers with fresh bedding sand, and re-joint the entire section. The price we write down on day one is the price on the invoice. Every job carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. In writing, every time.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things before calling: look for visible base material washing out at the driveway edge, note where water pools after rain, and take photos of any pavers that have shifted. What you shouldn’t do is pull up a sunken paver and pack some bagged sand under it. That feels like a fix, but without re-compacting the base beneath, you’ll have the same paver sinking again in eight weeks, now with a fresh patch of sand washing through the joints.

This work looks straightforward on the surface, but the failure is almost always underneath. Proper base repair means excavating to the original depth, re-compacting in lifts, and re-grading so water moves away from the house. Our crew does this every week across Austin, and we bring the compactors, the right aggregate, and the matching jointing sand. Call us at (325) 225-5429 and we’ll come out, diagnose what’s actually failing, and put a written number in your hand. Tell me what you need, I’ll tell you what it costs, and we’ll go from there.
