Atlas Kitchen Remodeling: The Austin Owner’s Guide

If your Atlas kitchen cabinets, hinges, drawer slides, or pull-out hardware have started sticking, sagging, or separating, we can match the part and install it the same week. Most Atlas hardware and cabinet component replacements in Austin run between $140 and $900 installed, depending on the cabinet line and how far the damage has spread. The typical call starts with a drawer that won’t close flush or a hinge that groans every time you open the door, and by the time you notice, the underlying issue has usually been working on the cabinet for a few months.

We’re an independent Austin remodeling company, not an Atlas factory service provider, but we work with Atlas cabinet lines often enough to know their hardware by sight. Trevor Nash and the Penhallow Remodeling Austin crew have been pulling Atlas doors and drawers apart in Austin kitchens long enough to know which parts fail first, which aftermarket replacements hold up, and when the smarter move is replacing the cabinet box instead of chasing a hinge.

Which Atlas Models This Applies To

Atlas kitchen cabinets have been sold under a few different lines over the years, and the hardware specs changed between them. The most common lines we see in Austin kitchens are the Atlas Classic, Atlas Signature, and Atlas Premier series. The quickest way to identify yours is to open a cabinet door and look at the hinge mount. Atlas Classic uses a compact face-frame hinge with a 35mm cup diameter. Signature and Premier moved to a full-overlay concealed hinge, also 35mm, but with a different mounting plate spacing, so the hinges are not interchangeable between the two without redrilling the door.

On the drawer side, Atlas has used three different slide lengths over the past decade: 18-inch, 21-inch, and 24-inch, almost always side-mount with a 1/2-inch clearance. If you measure from the front of the drawer box to the back and get 21 inches, do not buy an 18-inch slide and assume it will work. It won’t. The OEM Atlas slides are fine when new, but we have had better long-term results in Austin humidity with Blum or Salice side-mount replacements, which hold their ball bearings better through our wet springs and dry Augusts. We keep both OEM Atlas parts and those aftermarket equivalents in the truck, which means we can usually swap hardware in one visit.

We also install Atlas-compatible cabinetry from KraftMaid and Wellborn when a full replacement makes more sense than a hardware patch. Cambria and Silestone countertops are the surfaces we recommend most often when an Atlas cabinet repair turns into a countertop reset, but you will know from the quote whether that is where your project is heading.

Signs Your Atlas Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • A drawer that scrapes or binds on one side. This usually means a drawer slide has lost its ball bearings or the mounting screw has pulled out of the cabinet wall. Left alone, the drawer box starts wearing unevenly and the slide can tear a groove into the side panel.
  • A cabinet door that won’t stay closed. The hinge spring has weakened or the clip mechanism inside the hinge has cracked. This is the single most common Atlas failure we see in Austin, and it is almost always a hinge replacement, not a door problem.
  • A door that rubs against the cabinet frame when it opens or closes. That is either a hinge that has sagged out of adjustment or a mounting screw that has stripped the wood. If you keep forcing the door, you will eventually split the frame edge and turn a $40 hinge job into a refacing or box replacement.
  • A pull-out pantry or rollout shelf that jerks halfway out and stops. The track has dirt, food debris, or a bent rail. In Austin kitchens with Texas dust coming in through open windows, this one is frequent enough that we check the tracks before we quote anything else.
  • A corner cabinet lazy Susan that grinds or spins off-center. The center pole bearing is worn or the mounting bracket underneath has loosened. This is a load-bearing part, and when it goes, the whole shelf assembly twists and starts catching on the face frame.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A small remodeled galley kitchen with cabinets to the ceiling

Atlas hardware replacement and cabinet repair in Austin typically runs $140 to $900 per job, with kitchen remodels that involve new Atlas-compatible cabinetry landing between $14,000 and $45,000. A simple hinge swap on one door is at the low end. Replacing all the drawer slides in a 12-drawer kitchen with Blum hardware, adjusting every door, and resetting two sagging shelves is closer to the top of that range. Full kitchen remodels involving Atlas or comparable cabinet lines, countertops, and new hardware run from $14,000 for a compact galley layout to $45,000 for a full open-plan kitchen with island, stone tops, and custom cabinet configuration.

Every quote we give you is a written number before we start, and that number is the number on the invoice. No change orders for hidden surprises unless you approve them in advance. The parts and the labor carry our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the hinge fails, the slide jams, or the drawer sags again within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That second visit, if it ever happens, is free, including the service call.

DIY or Call Us?

A homeowner who is handy can safely check a few things before calling: wipe the slide tracks clean, tighten any loose hinge screws with a manual screwdriver, and check whether the drawer slide is visibly bent or the hinge clip is cracked. If the part is broken, replace it. If the surrounding wood is wet, swollen, or crumbling, stop there. Once the cabinet box itself starts failing, you need a carpenter’s eye to know whether the cabinet can be saved or whether you are throwing money into a box that will fail again in six months.

Cabinet hardware is not high-tension or electrical work, so it is one of the safer kitchen jobs to attempt, and we will tell you honestly if your repair is a one-screw fix. But if you have ten doors sagging, soft-close mechanisms that stopped softening, and a lazy Susan that sounds like gravel, that is a half-day job for a crew that does it weekly. Call (325) 225-5429 and we will give you a straight answer and a written price before anything gets pulled apart.
