Toto Fence Installation: The Austin Owner’s Guide
If you’ve got a Toto fence that’s seen better days, here’s the short version: we stock Toto-compatible fence parts on our trucks, and a full fence installation in Austin typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 depending on linear footage, post condition, and whether we’re pulling old concrete or setting new posts. Most homeowners discover the problem the hard way – a post leans after a spring storm, a gate starts dragging, or the fence just looks tired and starts showing rot at the base. You don’t need to know the exact part number before you call. We’ll figure that out together.

We’re Penhallow Remodeling Austin, and we’re an independent contractor – not affiliated with Toto directly. We just know their fence systems well enough to match parts correctly the first time.
Key takeaways:
- Installed Toto fence replacement in Austin: $3,500 – $9,000, with a written price before we start.
- We carry Toto-compatible posts, rails, pickets, and gate hardware on the truck for most common models.
- Every job includes a 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the fence fails inside a year, we come back and fix it free.
- Call (325) 225-5429 and a live person answers. No voicemail maze.
Which Toto Models This Applies To

Toto’s residential fence line includes a few series that show up regularly in Austin yards: the Toto Classic series with 4×4 posts and 1×6 pickets, the Toto Horizon line with 2×2 aluminum-reinforced rails, and the Toto Estate series, which uses thicker 5×5 posts and a powder-coated gate frame. Each series takes different post caps and rail brackets, and that’s where most part-matching goes wrong. A Horizon rail bracket won’t seat correctly on a Classic post – the screw pattern is off by about a quarter inch.
If you’re not sure which series you have, check the inside face of the gate frame or the bottom edge of a post. Toto stamps a two-letter series code plus the post dimension there. If the stamp’s worn off, measure the post – Classic posts are a true 3.5 inches square, Estate posts measure 4.5 inches. That single measurement usually settles it.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question: Toto’s OEM posts and rails hold up fine, but for pickets and gate hardware we often recommend a quality aftermarket equivalent with a thicker powder coat. The Austin sun is rough on thin finishes. We’ll show you both options and the price difference before you decide.

Signs Your Toto Fence Installation Is Failing
- Posts leaning at the base or wobbling when pushed. This is almost always rot at the soil line or a post that was set too shallow for our clay-heavy Austin soil. A leaning post stresses the rails and eventually cracks them.
- Gate dragging or refusing to close flush. Hinges on Toto gates pull out when the post flexes. You’ll see the hinge screws start to back out, then the gate drops an inch and catches on the latch side.
- Pickets splitting vertically or pulling free from the rails. Austin’s freeze-thaw cycle in winter, mild as it is, widens tiny cracks until the picket lets go. Once one goes, neighbors follow.
- Rail brackets corroding or snapping at the bracket ears. Toto’s older brackets were a thinner galvanized steel, and alkalinity in Central Texas soil accelerates the corrosion where the bracket meets the post.
- Fence line sagging between posts, especially on the west-facing side. That afternoon sun bakes the rails dry and they bow. If the sag is more than an inch over an 8-foot run, the rail has lost its structural memory.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A Toto fence installation in Austin generally lands between $3,500 and $9,000. Where you fall in that range depends on a few things we measure during the estimate: total linear feet, how many posts are salvageable, whether we’re removing and hauling the old fence, and whether the gate needs a new frame or just new hardware.
We don’t hand you a number over the phone and hope it holds. We come out, measure, dig a couple of test holes, and hand you a written line-item price. That’s the number on the invoice. The written price includes parts, labor, haul-away of the old fence, post-setting in concrete, and a written 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the fence isn’t right inside that year, we come back and fix it. No service call fee, no re-inspection fee.
Typical line items on a Toto fence job:
- Post replacement (each), parts and labor: $120 – $220 depending on post size and concrete depth.
- Rail replacement (per 8-foot section): $90 – $160 per rail, installed.
- Picket replacement (per picket): $18 – $35 installed, depending on series and finish.
- Gate rebuild, frame and hardware included: $600 – $1,400 depending on gate width and hardware grade.
If you’re only replacing a section rather than the whole run, we price that honestly too. We’re not here to upsell you into a full fence when three posts and a dozen pickets will do.
DIY or Call Us?
There are things you can safely check yourself. Walk the fence line after a storm and push gently on each post. Look for pickets that have pulled loose. Note which way a gate is leaning. That information helps us build an accurate quote faster.
What we’d caution against is pulling and resetting posts yourself, especially if the fence has any tension on it or is holding back a slope. Austin’s clay soil expands and contracts dramatically with moisture, and a post that comes out easily in June can be locked in place by November. Add the weight of a full Toto panel and you’ve got a real crush hazard if the fence comes down mid-job. Setting posts correctly here also means going deep enough to get below the expansive clay line – usually 24 to 30 inches – or the new post will lean inside two seasons.

FAQs

A properly installed Toto fence with pressure-treated posts and powder-coated hardware should last 15 to 20 years in Austin’s climate, though west-facing sections may need picket or hardware replacement around year 10 due to UV exposure.
Yes – if the posts are still sound, we can replace individual pickets, rails, brackets, and gate hardware without touching the rest of the fence, which keeps the cost well below a full installation.
Most Toto fence replacements in Austin take two to three working days from post-pulling to final gate adjustment, assuming standard soil conditions and no significant grade changes.
We stock Toto-compatible posts, rails, pickets, brackets, and gate hardware for the Classic, Horizon, and Estate series on our trucks, so the most common repairs go in same-day without waiting on a supplier.
Ready to get the fence sorted? Call (325) 225-5429 and we’ll schedule a free estimate. You’ll get a written price before any work starts, and a real person answers the phone around the clock.
