Caesarstone Bathroom Remodeling: The Austin Owner’s Guide

If you’re looking at a Caesarstone vanity top, shower surround, or tub deck that’s cracked, chipped, delaminating, or has failing seams, we stock and install Caesarstone-compatible bathroom remodeling materials right here in Austin. A full Caesarstone bathroom remodel typically runs $9,000 – $28,000 installed in our market, with smaller vanity-only or shower-surround jobs landing between $5,000 – $12,000. Most owners call us after the stone loses its bond at a seam, develops a hairline crack near the sink cutout, or when water intrusion has swollen the substrate (the moisture-resistant layer behind the stone) to the point where the whole assembly needs to come out.

We’re an independent Austin-based contractor, not affiliated with Caesarstone corporate. That matters because it means we choose materials based on what works, not on what a manufacturer’s program tells us to push. When a Caesarstone top has failed, our first question is always the same: is the stone itself worth saving, or is the money better spent on a fresh slab with a correctly built substrate underneath.

Which Caesarstone Models This Applies To

Caesarstone runs three primary product lines: the Classico series (their original quartz line, still the most common in Austin bathrooms), the Supernatural collection (higher-end veining, larger slabs), and the Outdoors line (which we rarely see in bathrooms). The compatibility gotcha most homeowners run into is this: Caesarstone slab thicknesses run 20mm (¾”) and 30mm (1¼”), and they are not interchangeable in the same application. If your original top was 30mm and you’re only replacing one section, you cannot mix in 20mm without visible height differences at every seam.

Here’s how to identify what you have. Look under the front overhang or behind the sink for a printed label reading “Caesarstone” with a series name. If the label is gone, measure the edge thickness with a tape measure; that tells you 20mm or 30mm immediately. For color matching, take a photo of the surface in natural light and bring it to us, stone colors shift under bathroom vanity lighting in ways that make a mismatched replacement look obvious after install. The honest OEM answer: Caesarstone’s warranty only applies to the slab itself, and only when installed by a Caesarstone-certified fabricator. In a bathroom remodel, the substrate, waterproofing, and install labor matter more than the logo on the slab. We use both OEM Caesarstone and quality aftermarket quartz from Cambria and Silestone, and we’ll tell you upfront which makes sense for your job and why.

Signs Your Caesarstone Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Cracks radiating from the sink cutout. This is the number one failure we see in Austin. The cutout leaves roughly two inches of stone at the front and back of an undermount sink, and if the installer didn’t overbuild the support underneath, years of someone leaning on the front edge eventually snap it. The stone almost always fails at the narrowest point.
  • Dark staining or swelling at seams. When water gets behind a seam and into the substrate, the wood or gypsum layer swells. You’ll see the seam start to lift, or a dark shadow appear under the stone near the joint. That’s not a surface stain you can polish out; that’s movement underneath.
  • Foggy or chalky patches that won’t buff off. Quartz resists stains well but harsh bathroom cleaners, especially anything with bleach or high-pH heavy degreasers, can etch the resin binder over time. If a patch looks duller than the surrounding stone and won’t respond to a quartz-safe cleaner, the surface has been compromised.
  • The stone has pulled away from the backsplash or wall. A visible gap at the perimeter joint means the adhesive or silicone has failed and the assembly is moving. In Texas, where foundation movement and seasonal humidity swings are constant, those gaps appear faster than in other climates.
  • A dull thud when you tap it. Solidly adhered stone sounds dense. A hollow thud means the slab has debonded from the substrate in that area. Left alone, the stone will eventually flex under normal use and crack. This is a check you can do in ten seconds, and it’s the earliest warning sign most people miss.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A galley kitchen opened up to the dining room with a new peninsula

A full Caesarstone bathroom remodel in Austin runs $9,000 – $28,000 installed. Here’s what actually moves that number.

The dominant cost driver is the stone itself. Caesarstone slabs in our area run roughly $55 – $85 per square foot just for the material, depending on the series and color. A small 48-inch vanity top with a sink cutout might need only 12 square feet of material, while a shower surround with a tub deck and a bench could push past 90. The second driver is substrate replacement. When a Caesarstone top fails, the substrate underneath usually failed first. If we’re replacing the stone, we’re replacing that layer too, and that means new cement board or waterproof foam board, new sealant, and often new plumbing escutcheons and a sink flange. Labor on a standard bathroom runs $4,000 – $7,000 by itself in Austin; complex shower surrounds push higher.

You get a written line-item price before any work starts, and that number is the number on the invoice. No change orders, no “we found rot” surprises unless you’re standing there looking at it with us. Every job carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if something fails in the first year, we come back and fix it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely do two things on your own. One: run the tap-and-listen test I described above, and mark any hollow spots with painter’s tape so you know exactly where the problem is. Two: photograph every crack, gap, and stain in daylight before you call anyone, so when we show up we’re looking at the full picture, not a fading memory of what you saw last week.

What you shouldn’t do is try to cut, seam, or reset quartz yourself. This is not a material that forgives mistakes. A wrong cut on a $700 slab means buying another $700 slab. Undermount sinks need a mechanical support system plus a silicone adhesive that cures under specific conditions. If you get the seam wrong, water gets in, and you’re back where you started in six months with a bigger bill. We’re background-checked, uniformed, and we clean up the job site so well your neighbors will think nothing happened. Call (325) 225-5429 and tell us what you’re seeing. We’ll get you a price and a plan.
